When Howie Carr turns the microphone off, he is an award winning front-page columnist for the Boston Herald. Known for his scathing exposes of local politicians, he has raised lots of eyebrows and voices over the years. Howie Carr, famous for pushing the envelope and not regretting that he went too far. Howie Carr's opinion is valued by the TV networks and programs he's regularly featured on: NBC Today, MSNBC, C-SPAN, Court TV, CNN, The Fox News Channel, and CBS This Morning. Besides being heard on his flagship station WRKO 680 in Boston, Howie Carr is syndicated across New England. Howie Carr has interviewed numerous politicians, authors and celebrities. He's not afraid to ask those "no comment" questions.

Carr has worked as a reporter/commentator for Channels 2 and 56. In 1980-81, Howie Carr was Boston City Hall bureau chief of The Boston Herald American and he later worked as the paper's State House bureau chief. As a political reporter for WNEV, Channel 7, Carr's coverage of then Mayor Kevin White was so relentless that after the mayor announced he wasn't running again, he told the Boston Sunday Globe that one of the things he enjoyed most about his impending retirement was not having Carr chase him around the city.

In 1985, Howie Carr won the National Magazine Award, the magazine industry's equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize, for Essays and Criticism. In television, Howie Carr has been nominated for an Emmy Award. Howie became a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago after he was elected by a popular Internet vote and will be formally inducted in November.

His book, "The Brothers Bulger," was on the New York Times best-seller list for 11 weeks.

Howie Carr is a native of Portland, Maine and a graduate of Deerfield Academy and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Carr lives in Wellesley. He is married and has five daughters.
