  • Make a Joyful Noise
As an operatic tenor I take the time to intersperse well-known songs into a phalanx of quotes, stories, and scripture that will edify, enlighten, and entertain an audience. This can be a bit off the beaten path but it has been successful with the audience that is weary of the same "hype me into a frenzy" dialogue. This can have some audience participation that can create an 'interactive' feeling that often is missing from such gatherings.
  • What is Required
This is a purely sports-oriented offering taken from a quote that I once read from a coaches' desk--"Sometimes our best is not good enough. Sometimes you have to do what is required." Featured in this are the Super Bowl XV Champion Oakland Raiders in whom half of the team (22 of the 45 including myself) came from other organizations as castoffs, waiver wire pick-ups, trades, or simply from the scrap heap. This is a must for the underdog.
  • Rejoice In Your Portion
This is a takeoff on a famous quote originated with King Solomon in which the idea is to improve upon the level of gratitude in your life and thus have this mortal coil in more abundance. It has a religious flavor to it but at the same time it is earmarked with a number of athletic stories that augment the reality that we are all dependent upon something or someone not in our purview.
  • And One Having Compassion...
This is taken from the book of Jude in the 22nd verse "making a difference", which deals primarily with the "power of one". It is designed to be more anecdotal and experience-oriented to influence those in attendance to be cognizant of their ability to influence situations regardless of their particular status.
  • Pliable Stone
This oxymoronic phrase is symbolic of how we live our lives. Within the workplace we need a degree of malleability to maximize our efforts and to forge an esprit de corps with those we come in contact with, yet at the same time, there has to be segments of life that are inviolate, steadfast, and immovable. This is a more serious topic for the businessman and/or a religious group--long on philosophy and sober contemplation, a little shorter on humor.
